Chromebooks: A Revolution in Learning

In school, you would usually expect classwork and homework to be done using pencils, pens, papers, and textbooks. You would probably never expect that technology would ever beinvolved in most of the learning in school. However, you might come across a school that is notlike most schools are. A few places of learning (such as our very own Mountain House HighSchool) are beginning to have Chromebooks as their way for students into doing classwork andhomework.

Chromebooks have changed the routines of many students because instead of usingtheir finger to clasp on a pencil or pen, they have their hands on a keyboard. Most of the timewhen they come into class, they won’t take out a paper or pencil; instead, they will power on aChromebook. Also, instead of turning in homework by hand, they turn in their homework online. Most of the classwork and homework are done on Chromebooks by using Google Docs, GoogleSlides, Geogebra, Google Sheets and other online services. Students don’t need a textbooksince teachers give them the link to the texts or sites that they would need.

Chromebooks are gaining popularity in some school districts, such as ours. Manystudents and teachers are in ease when using Chromebooks.

Passa Pungchai said,“Chromebooks helps us provide [the] Internet on our fingertips, and it helps us in our learning.”However, there are others that are not at ease yet with this new piece of technology. ColtonWatson stated bluntly, “I don't like Chromebooks because I don't know how to use them.”
