Theranos is a new blood testing technology that allows for blood tests to be run with a mere one drop of blood.
The founder of Theranos, Elizabeth Holmes, has always had a fear of needles (which have been a necessity in phlebotomy, the practice of taking blood and testing it). Here’s how Theranos works: your finger is pricked to obtain one drop of blood and a test is run using Theranos’ technology. It’s that simple.
Theranos provides affordable care to those incapable of receiving standard healthcare. Theranos allows its patients viewing of their lab results online, for easy access.
Elizabeth Holmes’s medical breakthrough helps those afraid of needles and enables them to access their health easily through the internet, all with affordable prices.
Theranos is currently partnered with Walgreens and testing is available in certain locations in Palo Alto, California, and Phoenix, Arizona. Theranos is expected to expand nationwide and across the world in years to come.
