MOUNTAIN HOUSE- During Friday's non-league match, the visiting El Capitan Gauchos junior varsity football team scored a 26-18 victory over the Mountain House Mustangs. However, for the varsity team, the El Capitan Gauchos football squad scored a big 64-0 victory over the Mountain House Mustangs.

Even though some might say that the Mountain House High football team was not prepared for their game, the real reason they lost: this is merely the second year of high school football for our brand new school.

The fans in the bleachers, affectionately dubbed The Stampede club, were affected by the weather at the game. The winds at both games were an astounding 13-21 mph with a temperature of 62 degrees. Because of this weather, the stands emptied out very quickly during the varsity game.

Students did not expect the crazy winds and freezing night leaving them to go home at about half time of the varsity game. One aspect that also affected the students leaving was the score of the varsity game. By halftime, the score was 51-0.

A freshman asked, ¨Why stay and watch the team lose while freezing in the cold?¨ While there’s a good point being made, Mountain House High School needs more school spirit to support our football teams, especially when so much improvement will be occurring throughout the season!
